Finding spots
How to search, filter, and evaluate fishing spots in DontDieFishing.
Search and filters
Use the search bar or filter panel to narrow spots:
- Species — bass, trout, catfish, salmon, panfish, surf species, etc.
- Water type — river, lake, pond, pier, jetty, surf, creek
- Distance — radius from your location (1–200 miles)
- Safety status — show only green (safe) spots, or include yellow
- Access — boat launch, shore access, wheelchair-accessible, walk-in only

Community reports
Signed-in users can submit condition reports:
- Water clarity and level observations

- Hazard sightings (debris, erosion, dangerous access)
- Access issues (locked gates, construction, flooding)
Reports are timestamped and attributed. Community reports supplement — but do not replace — official data sources.
