DontDieFishing

Getting started

Download DontDieFishing, set your location, and find your first safe fishing spot.

Install

Download DontDieFishing from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

Set your location

  1. Open the app and allow location access (or enter your city manually).
  2. The map centers on your area with nearby fishing spots pinned.

Browse spots

Each pin on the map is a fishing spot. Pins are color-coded by safety status:

  • Green — conditions are favorable, no active hazards
  • Yellow — fishable, but check conditions (rising water, wind, etc.)
  • Red — hazardous right now (flooding, strong currents, closures)

Tap a pin to see the spot detail card: species present, water type (river, lake, pier, surf), current conditions, and any active hazard warnings.

Save spots

Tap the bookmark icon on any spot to save it. Saved spots appear in your My Spots tab with condition updates and optional push alerts.

Check before you go

Before heading out, open the spot detail and review:

  1. Water conditions — level, flow rate, clarity, temperature
  2. Weather — wind speed/direction, precipitation, lightning risk
  3. Hazards — active warnings for the area
  4. Access — road conditions, parking, walk-in distance

The app aggregates data from USGS stream gauges, NOAA weather, and community-reported hazards. See Safety & conditions for data sources and limitations.
